Secure Digital
First released in 1999, SecureDigital (SD) is the fastest growing category of flash memory cards due to its widespread use in digital cameras, digital camcorders, PDAs, organizers, handheld PCs, MP3 players and mobile phones. The smallest cards available in the market are the SD and the MultiMediaCard. These can be used in small cameras. The current maximum capacity for Secure Digital and MultiMediaCard cards is 512 MB. The SD cards have better data security as it has a write-protect switch.
