First released in 1998, MultiMedia Card (MMC) is growing in popularity with the growing popularity of camera phones. MMC cards are manufactured to MultiMedia Card specifications. Devices like portable multimedia players, digital camcorders, handheld PCs, mobile phones which have a MultiMediaCard-compliant slot, use these tiny memory cards. Compatible with all MMC digital devices and most SD devices, MMC cards are an ideal substitute for SD cards when cost is a greater factor than security and/or speed.
